EDUCATION
The
Canal Winchester School System is recognized
as on of the superior systems in preparing
its students for college, technical schools
and the workplace:
- School
facilities located on 70 acres at the
Southern end of town and a 150 acre site
on Gender Road
- Currently
approximately 2,719 students are enrolled in the
school system
- A new high
school for grades 9-12 was built in 1993
and an expansion was completed in 2002. A new elementary school
was opened in the 1999-2000 school year
for grades K-2. An additional new facility
was opened in the 2002-2003 school year
for grades 3-4. Older but well maintained
facilities are provided for grades 5-8.
- The
district employs a staff of 320
- At least
70% of Canal Winchester graduates go
onto institutions of higher education
- Recent
State proficiency tests show that CW's
ninth graders rank in the top 25% of
Central Ohio school districts
- 100% of
Canal Winchester High School Seniors
have passed the state proficiency test
needed for graduation in all the years
the test has been administered
- Programs
available to students include gifted
education, technology classes, foreign
language studies, service learning
opportunities, special education
services and a variety of extra
curricular activities
- Vocational
education is available from nearby
Eastland and Fairfield Career Centers
for students in their Junior and Senior
year.
