Description of Services
The Division of Urban Forestry is dedicated to serving the Canal Winchester community, residents and businesses as well as our watershed by caring for trees, forests and environments where people live, work and play.

The Division, located at the Public Works Complex on Ashbrook Rd., works closely with the Street Tree Advisory Board (STAB) to provide municipal street tree and landscape management, including planting, replacement and removals for over 4,500 street trees and 17 landscape areas. The Urban Forester grants tree removal permits and provides clearance of right-of-way vegetation for city operations as well as provides for woodlands protection, non-residential landscape inspection and planning and maintenance of nearly 4 miles of riparian trails along Walnut Creek. An annual tree give-away is also coordinated and administered by the Urban Forester and STAB. In addition, the Division is responsible for the annual floral displays that give a colorful and signature touch to our beautiful historic downtown with over 140 hanging baskets and 30 containers of flowering plant species.
